How can you make a difference?
UNICEF Zambia seeks a Communication Officer to support advocacy and communications, raise children’s and women’s issues, strengthen public and political will in support of UNICEF mission and objectives.
Join our communication team, where you will be responsible for the production of communication products and materials; maintaining media relations as well as with groups and organizations whose support is essential to the achievement of advocacy and communication objectives; monitoring and evaluation of the section work plan activities; and ensuring that the contact lists of individuals, groups, organizations are maintained, including organizing and generating public support for special events and activities to promote country programme goals.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Minimum requirements:
Education: Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations and any other related fields.
Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Communication, Print and Broadcast Media, or Interactive Digital Media.
Skills: Communication Strategy, Coordination, Networking, Technical Knowledge, Media Relations, Reporting.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.
Desirables:
Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
Local language proficiency; Field work experience; Emergency communications experience; Video production experience
Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
